SPARQL is a recursive aconym short for SPARQL Protocol And RDF Query Language. It is a standardized language and is the most commonly used query language over RDF and triplestores.

It has a syntax similar to SQL, but where it uses graph pattern matching instead of joins over tables and filters on rows.
